Earthquake and the impact to your building

This afternoon (October 13, 2011) Bali island was rocked by earthquake 6.8 on the Richter scale. It was loud enough. Many buildings have minor damage, but some are have considerable damage.
What about the buildings that you have?

Some photos illustrating the damage caused by the earthquake

Carrefour on Sunset Road

XL Center - Sunset Road

In the photo above shows the broken wall of Carrefour and the XL Center a messy office, especially on the ceiling. If only such damage occurs, it means still having minor damage.

So what marks a dangerous building damage?
Look at the picture below. Seems to buffer the building (columns) were badly damaged. This can result in collapsed buildings.

After the earthquake sequence is complete, do a thorough observation of the building. Note the column (buffer buildings) and beam (the bond between columns), including stairs. But you must always be cautious. Buildings may have failed before you know it.

If there is damage to the building structure (columns and beams) then you must make improvements for your security.
